Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, LASPPPA, says henceforth, the grace period between the time of obtaining provisional building approval based on the presentation of proof of Land ownership documents and the presentation of Registered Statutory Documents for final approvals has been reduced from 2 years to 9 months.
The reduction in the duration of processing this document according to the General Manager of the Authority, Mr. Kehinde Osinaike becomes necessary in order to address the rate of non-compliance with the of terms of agreement in presentating registered Statutory Title Documents for Approval as well as the level of abuse by members of the public.
According to Mr. Osinaike, LASPPPA has over the years observed that 99% of applicants granted provisional permits based on possession and submission of Proof of Land Ownership other than Registered Land Titles statutorily stipulated for the procurement of Final Building Plans do not return to the Authority with their title document to obtain final Planning Permit Approvals.
He noted that applicants with Povisional Permits, that have elapsed the 2years stipulated period hitherto approved for the finalization of their permits are advised to approach LASPPPA District Offices covering the area where their building is located with their title documents or the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja.
He, therefore, urged owners and developers in the State to build responsibly and voluntarily comply with the new notice, stating that the State Government appreciates voluntary compliance.
