The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has inaugurated a six-man post-COVID-19 Pandemic Review Committee.
Chaired by a renowned thespian, Ms Joke Silva, MFR, the committee is expected to draw out suggestions and recommendations on how to re-activate the State creative industry, which has remained dormant because of the Corona virus pandemic currently ravaging the world.
Performing the ceremony in Alausa Ikeja, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, explained that committee members are expected to make long and short term recommendations to the State Government on ways to rejuvenate the Tourism and Entertainment industry.
Mrs Akinbile-Yusuf who described the Tourism sector as one of the worst-hit by the pandemic said the State wants to find a way to sustain the economy even with the pandemic and see how best it could continue to improve on the creative sector.
In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu implored the committee members to bring their professionalism and expertise to bear on boosting the State’s tourism sector beyond the COVID-19 era.
The Chairman of the Committee, Ms. Joke Silva thanked the State Government for the opportunity given them to serve and gave an assurance that all the appointees would work together to achieve the expected results.
Other members of the committee include Mr. Atunyota Akpobome (a.k.a Ali Baba), Mr. Patrick Donald Lee, Dr. Adun Okupe, Mrs. Oyenike Okundaye and Mr. Gbenga Sunmonu.
The committee is expected to submit its report in two weeks’ time.
