In a welcome message to public servants returning to work on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022, Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, challenges them to strive harder this year 2022 to build the Lagos of our dreams.
This was said in Muri-address, Okunola’s which was issued by Femi Ogun, Head of Public Affairs, at the first workday Interdenominational prayer and thanksgiving session for Lagos State Public servants, which took place virtually on Tuesday in Lagos.
He praised their efforts and dedication over the years, saying that there is no doubt that the quality of public service in Lagos State is second to none.
He noted, however, that this explains why citizens and business owners in Lagos look to the government with bated breath, but that, while the state government wants to introduce new regulations to promote a more sustainable environment, workers must be more diligent and make hard work a watchword in service delivery.
“In order therefore for the state government to reinvent a more sustainable future, accelerate socio-economic development, improve the healthcare delivery system and all its value chain, including supply chains, primary health care and alternative medicine and as well implement policies that would facilitate a more sustainable environment , I urge you all to work harder this year at building the Lagos of our collective dreams”, Muri-Okunola said.
The Head of Service, who stated that the year 2021, like the years 2019 and 2020, will be full of problems for leaders all over the world, adding that no country, including Lagos, was immune to the COVID-19 pandemic or related socio-economic, educational, and security crises.
We must recognize and applaud the state government’s efforts and commitment to combating the virus and ensuring its reduction to the bare minimum, while also renewing public infrastructure across the state and implementing policies to improve the quality of public service across all sectors, he said.
The Head of Service, however, urged all public servants to uphold the time-tested values, ethos, and traditions of honesty, probity, transparency, integrity, hard work, and service excellence that are all hallmarks of the Lagos State Public Service, while also reminding all workers that the COVID-19 pandemic is still ravaging the world, and that all workers should always follow the existing safety protocol as laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
