Following the carnage that emanated from the protests against police brutality, the Lagos State Assembly has set up an Ad-Hoc Committee to ascertain the level of damage to lives and infrastructure and offer suggestions.
The nine-member Committee is headed by the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Wasiu Sanni-Eshinlokun.
The House also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify the move for the creation of State police, while it urged the National Assembly to include State police in the ongoing amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
While debating on the issue at plenary, members took turns to condemn the destruction of and looting of property, and deaths that occurred as a fallout of the protests.
In his submission the Speaker, Chief Mudashiru Obasa said the peaceful EndSARS protests were hijacked by people with ulterior motives.
Chief Obasa commiserated with families of those who lost their lives and those whose businesses were affected in the violence.
The House had earlier embarked on the inspection of the scenes of the carnage which include the Lagos Division of the State High Court, BRT Oyingbo Terminal, Fagba, Isokoko, and Pen Cinema Police Stations, the Palace of Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, City Hall, and Public Works Corporation.
