The Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed Mr. Olalekan Onafeko as the Acting Clerk of the House.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Onafeko, a lawyer, was the Head of Human Resources and Administration in the Assembly.
The appointment was announced after the Deputy Speaker of the House, Alhaji Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni informed the House that the former clerk retired recently, and that nature abhorred a vacuum.
He said it was the responsibility of the Selection Committee of the House to appoint a new Clerk.
Alhaji Eshinlokun-Sanni added that the Committee met many qualified staff and considered so many qualities such as competence, desirability and others and settled with Mr. Onafeko.
The substantive Clerk of the Assembly, Mr Azeez Sanni retired two weeks ago after thirty-five years in Service.
Since then, the Deputy Clerk, Mr Taiwo Otun, had been acting as the Clerk during plenary.
