The Lagos State chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) are obviously not satisfied with the performance of the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his one year in office as they termed it ‘the worst’ when compared to others in history.
The party described his performance as abysmal of monumental failure, adding that they would expose him as the worst Governor the State has ever had.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, the party demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “disqualify the Governor as a person and the APC from eligibility to contest the governorship in the 2023 general elections.” Adding that all the persons and associations behind the illegal campaigns for electoral offense in line with the electoral Act be arrested and charged.
This is coming after the party accused governor Sanwo-Olu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State of commencing re-election campaigns ahead of the statutory timetable yet to be released by the INEC.
According to PDP, “for clarity, the sponsored public announcements, jingles, newspaper adverts are clearly calling on the electorate to re-elect Sanwo-Olu and the APC on the basis of their perceived performances within first year. These jingles and other announcements abound.”
“They are already overreaching all other aspirants and parties. Governor Sanwo- Olu and the APC are already violating the political process. The level playing field that ought to exist is being dug into gullies for all other parties.”
The party asserted that the reaction of the electoral commission against the action of the APC will prove it ability to manage coming elections.
“this is unfair. The INEC must speak out. Sanwo-Olu must stand disqualified. The INEC must not stand silent and indifferent. This is fundamental to the delivery of fair, Credible, acceptable elections in Lagos state,” the party said.
