The Lagos Airport Limousine bus operators have appealed to the Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN to waive the balance payment of their annual operating fees at the airport.
The Chairman, Airport Limousine Bus Operators, Mr. Tijani Jelili who made the appeal in an interview said, this would prevent members from borrowing to remain in the business due to the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to Mr. Tijani, members of the Association had borrowed and deposited a part payment of N40,000 of what they were expected to pay but lamented that they cannot borrow again to complete the balance of N20,000 as business activities were low at the airport.
Mr. Jellili explained that it was becoming increasingly difficult for them to maintain their vehicles as a result of rising costs of spare parts, adding that since the outbreak of the pandemic the daily take home pay of drivers plying the airport routes had reduced drastically.
He called on the FAAN Management to consider the prevailing economic situation in the Country and waive the balance payment of their operating fees.
Mr. Jelili urged FAAN Management to put the Hajj camp motor park in order as both motorists and commuters were suffering untold hardship especially during rainy season.
