The Labour party has moved up the announcement of their vice-presidential candidate from Thursday to Friday, August 8.
At the LP’s national secretariat in Abuja, Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, will do the unveiling.
Senator Baba-Ahmed, who is in his 40s, is reportedly the party’s vice presidential candidate, according to the Vanguard.
However, Peter Obi, who had traveled to Maiduguri and was scheduled to return to Abuja Thursday afternoon, had his flight canceled, therefore the presentation of Baba-Ahmed could not take place on Thursday as originally planned, according to Barrister Julius Abure, the party’s national chairman.
On Friday, July 8, at the party’s headquarters, Mr. Obi’s running mate will be announced, according to Abure.
In the meantime, Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has come under fire from Calistus Uju Okafor, the former deputy national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), for his inability to resolve the problem inside the party.
In a conversation with media on Wednesday in Abuja, Calistus Uju Okafor, who is currently contesting the legality of the party’s Abure-led national working committee in court, refuted Doyin Okupe’s assertions that he was asking for N48 million to drop his lawsuit against the organization.
Calistus asserted that he is fighting for justice and his rights, noting that Obi left the Peoples Democratic Party as a result of the wrongdoing committed against him.
Noting that his complaint had been filed in court since December 21, 2021, before the former governor of Anambra joined the party on May 29, he said he was not going to court for Obi’s benefit.
