Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, provided an explanation for his absence from the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association’s 2022 Annual Conference, which took place on Monday in Lagos.
Leading presidential contenders like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party, respectively, attended the NBA conference with the topic “BOLD Transitions” from August 19 to August 26, 2022.
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate, was not present either, although his running mate Kashim Shettima did.
I write to acknowledge receipt of your letter on the above subject matter and wish to notify you of my inability to attend this very important conference due to other urgent national commitments, according to the letter sent by Kwankwaso’s campaign spokesman, Abdulmumin Jubril, via his verified Twitter account late Monday.
“Given the circumstances, I would have sent Bishop Isaac Idahosa, my running companion, to speak on my behalf and express our vision for a modern, wealthy Nigeria. Unfortunately, he is currently travelling abroad.
I would want to express my sincere regret for being unable to attend and reassure you that the NBA and the New Nigeria People’s Party have similar goals for the peace, unity, and prosperity of our dear nation.
