The government of Kano State has closed 26 private health technology institutes that were functioning unlawfully in various regions of the state.
According to the government, the growth of schools is bad for everyone’s health, education, and the effectiveness of the entire healthcare system.
In a statement, the state’s Ministry of Health’s Health Public Relations Officer, Dr. Hadiza Namadi, expressed regret that some unrecognised schools lack distinct locations, offer dubious programs that go beyond the established course curriculum, and extort students and their parents.
According to the statement, the ministry has grave concerns about the state’s ongoing expansion of Private Health Training Institutions (PHTIs), which operate without following any of the regulations in place that are set forth by regulatory organizations and other pertinent authorities.
The announcement warned the public that all illegal health training institutions (HTIs) in the state will be immediately closed down, pending the results of any necessary investigations.
