Islam Cleric Donates One Million Naira To People Living With Disabilities In Lagos

Islam cleric and former Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture in Lagos State, Honourable (Sheik) Abdul Lateef Abdulakeem, popularly called Honourable Yepe,  has donated a sum of One Million naira to the Center for Disability Issues in Lagos. He made the  donation  during an annual get-together of the group at their headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Honourable Abdulakeem said the gesture was aimed at empowering the people living with disabilities especially those around Lagos West, Lagos East and Lagos Central Districts of the state, which according to him would assist them to cushion the effects of the harsh economic situation ravaging the country, particularly,  the people living with disabilities.
The cleric expressed satisfaction in rendering assistance to the less-privileged, especially, people living with disabilities. Honourable Yepe thereby enjoined all well-to-do people in the society to always have their fellow beings at heart and do the least they could do to elevate them from the present   predicament, because according to him, government alone cannot satisfy the yearnings of the entire people, especially,  the people living with disabilities.
“Let me use this opportunity to call on well-meaning Nigerians to rise up and cultivate the habit of assisting fellow human beings, especially, people living with disabilities, because as we all know, human wants are unlimited and government alone cannot shoulder the responsibilities”,
Hon Abdulakeem said.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the people living with disabilities, the Coordinator of the Centre for Disability Issues, Comrade Kehinde Oshilaja, expressed appreciation to the laudable gesture of the former Commisioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Honourable Abdulakeem Abdulateef, adding that the donation would go a long way to cushion the effect of the economic hardships on the life of people living with disabilities.
“Let me on behalf of the people living with disabilities, especially, we members of the Centre for Disability Issues, CDI, thank the  former Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture,  Sheilk Abdullateef Abdulakeem, Hon. Yepe) for giving people with disabilities #1,000,000.(1million ) to be shares #10,000 each to 100 members of disabilities throughout Lagos State(Lagos West, Lagos East and Lagos Central). We sincerely appreciate you sir”, Oshilaja said..
He now called on all other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate People like Honourable Abdulakeem in taking people living with  disabilities from abject poverty.
Corroborating, tbe Chief Imam of Ojikutu Central Mosque, Oyingbo, Sheik Rabiu Olowo, confirmed that what Honourable Abdulakeem did was exactly what God wants us to be doing, but not necessarily waiting to be called upon before you know the right things to do.
 He pointed out that what Honourable Abdulakeem did came as a big surprise to all the members of the people living disabilities, hence, “a well deserved donation by Almighty Allah”,  Chief Imam Ojikutu Central Mosque, Oyingbo said.
Others according to Oshilaja that contributed and are still contributing to the  wellness of the people living with disability
 include Alhaji Abdullateef  Olanrewaju Sodiq, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Alhaji Lukman Ajose ,Hon Afeez Adediran  (aka Jando),   Ojora of Ijora Kingdom, Oba  Abdul Fatai Aremu Aromire, Alhaji Ibrahim Oshinaya and others.
“We sympathize strongly with the family of Pastor Adeboye for the loss of their beloved son. It is our prayer that God will strengthen them and all members of RCCG worldwide.  The RCCG has been a big supportive pillar for people living with disabilities. They catered for more than 60% of people living with disabilities through their various programs.They have also provided shelter and clothing to our members on number of occasions”, Oshilaja said.
