Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the former governor of Anambra State, has stated that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will be released very soon.
This was said by Ezeife in response to a judgement by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, which dismissed eight of Kanu’s 15-count accusations.
The eight-count accusations were dismissed by Justice Binta Nyako, according to InsightnaijaTV, since the proof of evidence did not link Kanu to the charges.
Kanu had submitted a preliminary objection to all of the accusations, which was dismissed by Justice Nyako.
As a result, the judge set a hearing date for Kanu’s bail plea for May 18, 2022.
Following the ruling, Ezeife stated that the Federal Government’s remaining seven allegations against the IPOB leader will not stand the test of time.
The former governor advised IPOB members and freedom backers to remain calm and let justice prevail in Kanu’s trial.
“If Kanu was standing trial on a 15-counts charge and eight of the charge were struck out for lack of merit, do you think the rest of the charges can stand the test of time? Of course not,” Ezeife told reporters.
