The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria ,IPMAN and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG had threatened to withdraw the services of petroleum tanker drivers indefinitely in Lagos State from Monday, today August 10, 2020 over alleged failure of the State Government and Presidential Task Force on Decongestion of Apapa to address the major issues causing the drivers pains.
The Governor who had declared zero tolerance for accidents caused by fallen containers from trucks specially inspected how the containers are latched at the ports.
The South-West Chairman of NUPENG, Tayo Aboyeji said members of the PTD were now accusing NUPENG of taking side with security agents to molest and assault drivers on Lagos roads.
Aboyeji added that the issues which forced the drivers to initiate an indefinite strike was not addressed during the four-hour meeting with officials of the Lagos State Government on Sunday.
