Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has ordered that no one should wear a face mask going forward in order to facilitate accurate identification of people in public areas.
InsightnaijaTV reports that the governor issued the order during an urgent security meeting held yesterday in the state capital of Lokoja.
Governor Bello addressed the meeting’s first and second-class traditional rulers, as well as the local government council chairmen present at the time, warning them to protect their domains and make sure all of their territories are clean.
“Ensuring peaceful coexistence in your domain is your exclusive responsibility. You have the exclusive responsibility to ensure that all nooks and crannies of your areas are free from criminality of all sorts,” the Governor said.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Local Government Chairmen, union leaders, and security agencies were instructed by Bello to meet with tricycle and motorbike riders for the purpose of obtaining the necessary papers.
In addition to ordering the removal and demolition of shanties in Lokoja, Osara, Zango, Itobe, Obajana, and all other parts of the state, the governor also ordered the closure of all brothels that house prostitutes.
Politicians in the state were forewarned by Bello not to tamper with or get engaged in anything that would jeopardize the calm and security the populace currently enjoys.
“Let me sound a note of warnings to all politicians irrespective of political persuasions to desist from anything that could disrupt the peace we are currently enjoying in the state,” Vanguard quoted the state leader as saying.
