According to a recent Morning Consult poll, which questioned more than 2,000 individuals about the foreign policy concerns they wish the government would prioritise, Americans do not view the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine as a major priority.
The survey, which was released on Tuesday, found that Democratic voters were more concerned with issues like combating global warming and averting another pandemic, while Republicans wanted the government to concentrate on immigration, terrorism, and drug trafficking. Republicans and Democrats, respectively, only scored sixth and tenth in their support for Ukraine.

It comes as the Biden administration is attempting to pass a new $37.7 billion aid package before Democrats lose control of the House and has already committed close to $20 billion in security support to Ukraine. Once Republicans regain control of the House early next year, they have already said they won’t approve any additional sizable aid packages for Kiev.
GOP leader Kevin McCarthy had already said that Congress will not be writing a “blank check” to Ukraine, and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul is pushing for more “oversight, transparency, and responsibility” in the way that Washington backs Kiev.
Most Americans supported US assistance to Ukraine in the early stages of the conflict, which began in late February, in the form of anti-Russian sanctions as well as military and humanitarian aid. However, over the nine months that the battle has carried on, that support seems to have greatly decreased.
Recent surveys, such as those conducted by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and Data for Progress in September, indicate that most Americans are tired of the situation and would prefer that the US concentrate on pursuing diplomatic negotiations to end the conflict as soon as possible rather than continuing to only support Kiev militarily.
