Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, is a controversial singer who has proclaimed himself a descendant of the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
After appearing on the song “ZaZoo Zehh” with Nigerian rapper Olamide and dancer Poco Lee, Portable rose to fame. He accepted the moniker “newborn Fela” bestowed upon him by his fans.
In the most recent episode of Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by Bae U Barbi, Portable stated, “I didn’t give myself the title, ‘Newborn Fela.'” I received it from my admirers. You are aware that I have a lot of fans, which has helped me get thus far.
“Normally, you have to be bold, a lion don’t fear to walk alone.”

“Which superstar do you know that is bigger than me in Nigeria?” said Portable, in response to people who continued to refer to him as an up-and-coming musician. I am the one they are talking about now: musician that is trending. My talk is trending, my slangs are trending, my movement is trending, my dressing is trending.
“I was upcoming last year, and I am upcoming this year as well. I will be up and coming everyday. Coming with new glory everyday. Newborn Fela. Every year is my year.”
