The Legislative Arm of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, Nigeria has impeached the Deputy Leader of the house, Hon. Folashade Akinpelu and replaced her with Hon. Adebola Abiodun Olamilekan.
Hon Akinpelu, the Councilor representing Ward A was impeached at a plenary sitting of the house on Thursday, 7th May 2020, following charges of gross misconduct and insubordination leveled against her.
According to a statement by the media officer of the Council, Rabiu Hassan, the Majority Leader of the house, Hon. Yinusa Salami moved the impeachment motion in accordance with sections 68 and 70 of Lagos State Legislative House rules.
The motion was rightly seconded by Hon. Adebola Olamilekan and in the absence of a counter-motion, the House unanimously resolved to impeach the Deputy Leader of the. Legislative Arm, Hon Folashade Akinpelu, representing Ward A(Isheri-Olowo-Ira Magodo).
Her impeachment was thereafter followed by a motion moved by Hon. Yinusa Salami(ward G) and seconded by Hon. Biliaminu Taliatu(Ward F) for the nomination of a new Deputy Leader.
Thereafter, Hon. Adebola Abiodun Olamilekan(ADLEK), Councillor representing Ward C(Ikosi-Oke Ketu) was unanimously elected as the new Deputy Leader of the Legislative Arm of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area.
