Inspector-General (IG) Alkali Usman has approved the dismissal of nine police officers for their roles in the botched strike by the institution’s rank and file.
Two inspectors, five sergeants, and two constables are among those affected.
They are: AP/No. 245800 – Inspector Nanoll Lamak; AP/NP 287568 – Inspector Amos Nagurah; F/No. 271367 – Sergeant Onoja Onuche; F/No. 442680 – Sergeant Franklin Agughalau; and F/No. 495378 – Sergeant Emmanuel Isah. Others are F/No. 508168 – Sergeant Adesina Ismail; F/No. 508282 – Sergeant Osoteku Ademola; F/No. 525839 – Police Constable Ehighamhen Favour Ebele and F/No. 528222 and Police Constable Ubong Inem.
The personnel were dismissed, as stated in a signal signed by the Commissioner of Police, Provost, Force Headquarters Abuja, following the conclusion of their orderly room trial for Offences of Confidence, namely Planning, Organizing, and Coordinating an Industrial Strike within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force.
Commissioners of Police in commands and formations have been directed to issue appropriate warnings to affected personnel, as well as dekit and eject them from official accommodation and facilities where applicable.
The planned strike by police officers compelled the Inspector General to visit police stations across the country about two weeks ago.
According to investigations, the dismissed personnel were identified and arrested after their calls and phone conversations were tracked.
