Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba has promoted 21,039 junior officers, more than four years after their last promotions.
The elevation of 20,572 Sergeants to Inspector, 324 Corporals to Sergeants, and 143 Constables to Corporal is among the officers who were last upgraded on or before 2017.
CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, announced the permission in a statement on Thursday.
It is part of an effort, according to Adejobi, to improve employee welfare, working conditions, and morale in order to increase efficiency.
Baba stated that he was still devoted to manpower development and that deserving employees would be rewarded for their efforts.
Senior police officers were notified by the IGP that the Force’s high command is in contact with the Police Service Commission (PSC) over the release of their promotion.
He praised the newly promoted officers’ fortitude and urged them to view their new ranks as a call to serve with increased fervor, vigour, and patriotism.
