Unknown number of police personnel were slain in the Enugwu-Ukwu community in Anambra State’s Njikoka Local Government Area on Sunday night after unidentified assailants opened fire on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s vehicle.
According to sources, the gunmen opened fire on the caravan, and police officers in the convoy replied, killing roughly six officers in the shootout.
Although facts of the incident were still hazy, some publications speculated that it could have been an assassination attempt on the senator.
“Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was attacked today by some hoodlums in Enugwu Ukwu,” a source stated. It was a deliberate move. It wasn’t a spur of the moment decision.
“The policemen were about four in the convoy and they were attacked.
“All their arms were collected. The boys that spearheaded that attack were about nine in numbers.”
