Prince Usman Hamzat, Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with Adara Foundation for the empowerment of vulnerable women in the Local Government Area.
In his brief comment seen at the LG Public Affairs Unit, Prince Hamzat noted that the initiative was an expression of love to Ifako-Ijaiye people. He said the initiative will protect the recipients from loan sharks who charge them exorbitant interests.
Prince Hamzat thanked Adara Foundation for partnering with the Local Government.
Adara Foundation’s Lead, Mrs. Omobolaji Lana, said the project will be in two phases. The first is the Trade Credit Programme (TCP) in which 100 women will be empowered with Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) to be sold and the cost payed back to the Foundation while they keep the profit.
The second phase is the Financial Literacy Programme (FLP) which is to deliver financial education for 200 women to help them manage their businesses and personal finance.
The programmes are to span the next couple of months.
