“Labour Party will stop nepotism, that is my commitment,” Obi said
Earlier, when welcoming the LP presidential candidate and his running partner, Yusuf Datti, to his palace in Benin, Oba Ewuare II, told Obi that his reputation preceded him.
After being peppered with questions by the emperor, Obi said that he had read that he had been offered a piece of land but had turned it down. He advised the ruler to find out for sure whether or not this information was accurate.
Ewuare also questioned him on his ability to withstand temptations in the workplace and maintain his moral character.
The monarch went on to say that there had been numerous disputes regarding his popularity.
He added that he had tried to find out from both the old and the young, and that what he saw was pretty amazing. He said it was thought that Obi was only popular on social media, while some argued differently.
The traditional ruler said that because he was the father of everyone, the Benin throne has been politically neutral since the beginning of time.
According to him, the throne was looking for a candidate who would have Nigerians’ best interests at heart and who could give everyone’s life purpose.

Obi acknowledged that he had in fact returned the land that had been handed to him in response to the Oba’s inquiries.
In response to the query of how to withstand the temptations that come with holding public office, Obi stated that he and his running companion would do every effort to withstand and combat corruption in the nation.
Obi had already claimed to be in his palace with his entourage to ask for his approval before beginning his campaign.
He asserted that the upcoming elections should not be based on religious or ethnic feelings, but rather on competence and the ability to bring about democracy’s benefits for Nigerians.
Obi promised that if elected, his administration would take advantage of Nigeria’s large population and abundant natural resources to raise the country’s Gross Domestic Product and improve living conditions for Nigerians.
