Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has refuted rumours that he might run against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on a live television programme in Abuja yesterday, the minister affirmed that morality should never be sacrificed for political gain. He also vowed that nothing would force him to run against his principal in 2027, given that he helped Tinubu becomes president and was appointed minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Reiterating his dedication to the Tinubu administration’s success, Wike clarified that the pursuit of justice was the primary rationale behind his and the G5 governors’ endorsement of Tinubu’s bid for president.
“Tinubu made me the FCT minister and I won’t allow anybody to crumble our political structure,” declared Wike. No! Tinubu made me minister; people do not understand. I have character.
“What will happen in 2027? I stood and I said I am not going to support injustice. I was threatened that they will do me this and that. They tried many options, including using Major Generals.”
