Prof. Aderemi Adedibu, who is the son of late Ibadan politician Lamidi Adedibu, has stated that his late father was not a criminal as some had thought when he was alive, asserting that he was a man who detested deception and battled righteously to ensure that no one was deceived.
Aderemi made this statement while chatting with Dele Adeyanju on Agbaletu TV. He mentioned how his late father was a kind man who fed everyone who grew near to him, but he also fought against anyone who tried to defraud other people.

He also added that because he was knowledgeable about the land histories in the South-Western zone and Ibadan, he fought for those who were being wronged on their lands.
He claimed that Late Adedibu was loyal to late Obafemi Awolowo and other party leaders and that the late Lanleyin encouraged him to enter politics.
The late strongman of Ibadan politics’ eldest son, however, asserted that he moved to Nigeria on his own initiative after studying overseas in order to protect his late father’s reputation—who was frequently mistaken for a thug.
Aderemi responded that while they disagreed on some political matters, they did agree on certain social ones when asked about his agreement or disagreement with his late father on social and political concerns.
