The former President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nniah Nwodo, has distanced himself from a social media report alleging that he fingered members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, as being responsible for the ongoing killings in Imo and Anambra states.
Nwodo who described the report as “provocative,” said the originator wanted to put him on a collision course with IPOB, adding that he never indicated interest to run for the presidency in 2023.
The story, according to Nwodo, had it that he blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, for the killings in the southeast states.
But Nwodo in a reaction to the online publication, on Sunday, said it was unfounded, maintaining that he never spoke to anybody on such a controversial issue.
He said that he had always shared the pains of the IPOB who are fighting against the marginalisation of the Igbos in the scheme of things in Nigeria.
Nwodo dismissed the story as emanating from mischief makers and urged the general public to ignore it.
“My attention has been drawn to a publication alleging that I made a statement on the recent killings in Imo and Anambra States.
“The statement further alleged that I referred to IPOB as being responsible for the killings.
