In a bid to uplift the economic status of women and youths in Isolo and Ejigbo of Lagos State, Hon. Johnson, representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency2, has empowered over 150 persons in the first phase of the empowerment program, in his constituency.
The event which held yesterday, December 28, at the Hill crest Event, Ago palace way, Okota, Lagos had beneficiaries drawn from the 6 wards in the Constituency which included traditional rulers, artisans, widows, religious organizations, CDC, members from the opposition parties, tribal groups and communities, as beneficiaries from the empowerment scheme.
The distributed items and cash included
71 petty traders who received cash of N50,000 each to boost their businesses.

In addition, each beneficiaries also received N10,000 as a start up capital except those with make- up artist who received N20,000 each.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Johnson who was the former Commissioner for works and infrastructure in Lagos State, said the empowerment program was to appreciate his constituency in line with his electoral promises, and to render support for economic advancement. He therefore appeal to the beneficiaries to make good use of the money, and for those given items, not to sell them.
Johnson who used the occasion to give account of his steward within the last 19 months in office, also informed the gathering of ongoing efforts to facilitate infrastructural development and other projects that will bring economic development to Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency2, while reiterating his commitment to the development of his constituency and the state at large. The lawmaker called for more understanding and cooperation among the constituents to achieve this feat.
The lawmaker added that he shall sustain the empowerment of the womenfolk, youth and the people generally in keeping with his desire to turn around the misfortunes of poverty associated issues in the Constituency.
Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were the traditional rulers of the two communities in the Constituency – Isolo and Ejigbo, His royal majesty, the Osolo of Isolo, oba kabiru Agbabiaka, and the ojon of Ejigbo ably represented by Asoju oba of Ejigbo. Others are Hon. Jude Idimogu member, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency2, Chief Adegboyega the first executive Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo local government, the iyaloja general of Isolo, the APC party stalwarts, the president general of the artisans in Isolo and Ejigbo, Alhaji Adelabu.
