Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, gunmen suspected of being bandits stormed Kudendan community in Kaduna State and kidnapped Reverend Fr. Joseph Akeke, a Catholic Church priest.
According to sources, the kidnappers killed two security guards before gaining entrance to the Reverend Father’s home, and they also kidnapped a woman and her two children, as well as the priest.
Many residents were confused by the occurrence, according to another source, because they heard gunfire and assumed it was from security officers defending the community.
As of the time of reporting this story, ASP Jalige Mohammed, the Kaduna Police spokesman, did not pick up his phone calls or respond to text messages provided to him.
