Ebonyi State’s Governor David Umahi has announced the indefinite suspension of the Coordinator of Ohaozara Development Centre, Obinna Ekezie.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, on Sunday, said that Mr. Ekezie’s suspension was a result of serious acts of misconduct bordering on dishonesty and traveling outside the state without official permission.
The Governor directed the embattled Coordinator to hand over the government’s property in his possession to the Secretary to the State Government/Coordinating Commissioner no later than 4 pm on Sunday, 8th August 2021.
The statement further announced the appointment of Peter Akpa as the Acting Coordinator, Ohaozara Development Centre with immediate effect.
The statement reads, “His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr Dr David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE, has approved the immediate indefinite suspension of Mr Obinna Ekezie as Coordinator, Ohaozara Development Centre.
“The indefinite suspension is as a result of serious acts of misconduct bordering on dishonesty and traveling outside the State without official permission.
“Consequently, Mr. Obinna Ekezie is directed to hand over all government property in his possession to the Secretary to the State Government/Coordinating Commissioner not later than 4 pm today 8th August 2021.
“In a similar development, His Excellency, the Governor has approved the appointment of Mr Peter Akpa as Acting Coordinator, Ohaozara Development Centre with immediate effect.”
