Bola Tinubu has been pushed to undergo a medical examination and make the results public by political economist Pat Utomi, who claims the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate is unfit.
He issued the challenge on Monday while taking questions on Politics Today on Channels Television, arguing that there are enough indicators that Tinubu is unqualified for the position.
“Physically, you can see he’s in poor health. Don’t let’s deceive ourselves. He said on the broadcast, “Let’s be honest.
Utomi disputed the APC’s assertions that Tinubu is well by saying that “American presidents undergo medicals.
“Let him (Tinubu) go through medicals with Nigerian doctors and make it (result) public.”
He claimed that his position was taken because the outcome of the presidential election the next year would affect “the lives of millions of people.”
He claimed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would have been another candidate put out by the ruling party.
“Our country has suffered so much from having ailing leaders. That was why I can say here, that was why the Vice President stepped up,” Utomi added, noting that Osinbajo “would have been a fit person”.
He also praised the Yoruba sociocultural organisation Afenifere for repeating its support for Peter Obi, the nominee for president of the Labour Party (LP).
The organisation stated at a news conference in the Lagos neighbourhood of Ikoyi that the choice was made using the “concept of justice, equity, and inclusiveness.”
Afenifere chairman Ayo Adebanjo continued, “Peter Obi is the guy of Igbo extraction that Afenifere has decided to endorse and back; he is the one we trust to reorganise the country back to federalism on taking office.”
Utomi also disputed claims that the Afenifere lacks political clout, indicating that the organisation is headed in the right direction.
