The Lagos House of Assembly has commiserated with the families of Lagosians that lost their relatives in the recent gas plant explosions in Alimosho and Ifako- Ijaiye local government areas of the state.
The House also mandated its Committee on Special Duties & Intergovernmental Relations to conduct a thorough investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the incessant explosions in the state.
The issue was raised under Matter of Urgent Public Importance by Hon Bisi Yusuf ( Alimosho 2), during the Emergency Plenary session of Friday, October 9, 2020.
Hon Bisi Yusuf said Thursday, October 8, 2020, was a sad day for him seeing his constituents in a terrible situation and he could not do anything to help.

He therefore called on the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning to cancel all permits given to Gas Plant Companies sited in residential areas in the state.
He also called for the compensation of victims of such unfortunate incidents.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. ( Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa said it is the responsibility of government to protect the lives and property of the people.
He also said that since the House did not have accurate information about how these gas plants companies were granted approval and supervised, it is better to allow the committee to investigate.
” It is better we allow the Committee of the House particularly Committee on Special Duties to look into this, to engage the appropriate authority and operators so that we can get the true picture of what has been happening in this sector.
The speaker gave the committee one week within which to submit its report.
He later called for a one-minute silence in honour of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incidents .
