To further minimize accidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Command has issued warnings to drivers about the dangers of speeding.
Wednesday in Ota, Ogun, the FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Ahmed Umar, issued the warning in an interview with the Newsmen.
In response to the two separate accidents that occurred on the route between Tuesday and Wednesday morning and cost six lives, Umar issued the recommendation.
InsightnaijaTV reports that the accident on Tuesday resulted in four fatalities and six injuries of varied severity.
Another accident happened on Wednesday, taking two lives and injuring another.
According to the official, the two accidents could have been avoided if the drivers had conformed to the posted speed limits and other traffic laws.
“The two crashes on Tuesday and Wednesday were caused by restless driving and speeding on the part of the two drivers.
“We cannot continue to lose innocent people to road accidents caused by the nonchalant attitude of some drivers plying our roads.”
Umar also advised motorists not to drive against traffic, saying, “they should reduce their speed so that when an accident occurs, its impact will not be much”.
