The Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, is seeking the support of the Lagos State Emergency Management
Response Agency, LASEMA, in quick dissemination of emergency information from its call and control
centre for prompt rescue operations. The FRSC Lagos and Ogun sector Commander, Mr Segun Ogungbemide, made the call at LASEMA quarterly stakeholders meeting on synergy among Emergency first responders held at Ikeja.
Mr Ogungbemide who commended Lagos for improvement in rescue operations using technology and
sophisticated equipment tasked other States of the federation to follow suit. The FRSC sector Commander hinged recent reduction in highway accidents to continuous sensitization by the agency and called on motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good shape before embarking on any journey.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental
Relations, Mr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, said any driver who flout traffic laws in Lagos would face the
wrath of the law with a call on all road users to be cautious especially during the rainy season to prevent
man-made accident.
Earlier, the Director General, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu, said that the stakeholders forum was to
proffer solutions to the many challenges encountered by first responders during Emergencies.
Dr Oke-Osayintolu who hinted that a modern rescue unit would be unveiled in the Epe division this
Friday, reiterated the commitment of the state government to ensuring adequate protection of lives and
property. Participants were taken through different sessions which include
Risk assessment and prevention of fire disaster, Road Safety challenges in Lagos State and Hazard
identification and control among others.
