The Management of the Nigerian Customs Service says the
intelligence report reaching it’s Headquarters in Abuja, has it that, Chinese authorities have just detected corona virus in some frozen chicken, meat and seafoods from Brazil and Ecuador, after routine screenings.
For this reason, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Colonel Hameed Ali, has directed all border Commands and Zones, to intensify anti- smuggling activities towards ensuring that these products are not smuggled into the Country through land borders, air or seaports.
In a circular signed by the Acting Deputy Comptroller in charge of Enforcement, Mr Aitee Magaji, all Zonal Coordinators, Area Comptrollers as well as Border Drills Coordinators are hereby warned to watch out for the smugglers of these unwholesome frozen products in their various Commands.
This effort is in line with the Government’s intervention in trying to flatten the curve of the pandemic across the Country.
