More details have emerged about the ordeal of a former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice who are currently charged for organ harvesting in the United Kingdom.
Recall that the Nigerian politician and his wife were arrested and arraigned for child trafficking, potential modern slavery, and organ harvesting in the UK on Thursday, June 23, 2022 but the UK Metropolitan Police said the couple both conspired to bring a child to the UK with the intention to harvest organ.
Following an investigations by the police’ Specialist Crime Team, the duo were charged and arraigned before the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court. The court, however, denied their bail applications, and adjourned the case till July 7.
However, the child involved has been safeguarded, according to the police.
Meanwhile, a letter that accompanied the visa application of the victim now identified as David Ukpo has also surfaced on social media.
The document dated December 28, 2021 was addressed to the British High Commission in Abuja, and signed by Ekweremadu himself.
“I am writing in support of the visa application made by Mr Ukpo Nwamini David who is currently having medical investigations for a kidney donation to Ms Sonia Ekweremadu,” the letter read in part.
“David and Sonia will be at the Royal Free Hospital London, and I will be providing the necessary funding. I have enclosed a statement of my bank account.”
Meanwhile, the embattled Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice have been reportedly denied bail in alleged slavery, child trafficking and organ harvesting case. The case which was presented before a UK court has been adjourned to July 7.
