Media organizations especially Online radios have been urged to be accurate in their reportage in the quest to building a harmonious society.
The Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Lagos Operations, Prince Adeyinka Amosu made the call at the Unveiling of Badagry Online Radio Nigeria in the ancient city of Badagry.
Prince Amosu who was the Chairman of the occasion, urged journalists to always report facts and figures, in simple and clear languages for a better understanding of the people, especially those at the grassroots.
Represented by the Publisher of a Magazine in Lagos,Prince Sehude Akande, Prince Amosu maintained that the impact of a Community radio could not be underestimated in fostering unity and peace in any society.
In her Keynote address, the guest speaker, Mrs. Pentho Francis-Sohe, who spoke on the Topic ”Community Radio, A Potent Tool For Rural Development” said Community Radio should exist to Preserve Cultural Identity, strengthen democracy, educate and entertain the people as well as give priority to News and Information about the people.
Mrs. Pentho Francis -Sohe, said what is expected from Community Radio is to present Programmes and News that will add value to the lives of the people of their host community.
In his welcome address, the Director Badagry Online Radio Nigeria, Mr. Anthony Whejiepon, says the major objective of the Online Radio is to improve indigenous language and allow the people of Badagry have proper access to the right information.
Mr. Whejiepon added that the focus of the Online Radio Nigeria, which contents and programmes will be broadcast in Ogu , English, Yoruba and Awori dialects, is to promote Socio-economy, Cultural and Political activities of the people of Badagry.
Highlights of the event was the Inauguration of the Board of Advisers and presentation of papers by some dignitaries among others.
