Kano State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed the death of four persons and many properties destroyed as a result of flooding in Danbatta and Rogo Local Government Areas of the State.
This was according to the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Mr. Sale Jili during an interview with NAN on Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Kano.
Report has it that the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) earlier predicted flooding caused by heavy downpour in 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
According to him: “We deployed assessment teams to the affected areas. We also visited Rogo and Danbatta to sympathise with the victims over the disaster.
“There are reports of flooding in the 44 LGAs of the State due to heavy rainfall this season,”
He adds that two persons lost their lives and many houses were destroyed in Rogo, and two other persons died as a result of flood in Danbatta.
He said the Agency had distributed relief items worth N3.5 million to the affected persons to alleviate their sufferings.
Jili however, noted that the displaced persons are currently leaving with their relatives in the affected communities.
