Sex workers and occupants of a building at 48, Azikiwe Street in Mile 2 area of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, dislodged as early morning fire raze down a bar and adjoining brothel in River State.
The fire which was reported to have started at the early hours of today, began from a food vendor point razed the building and escalated beyond control.
However no life was lost to the incident which destroyed over 20 rooms occupied by sex workers “prostitute” in the area.
“The fire started from the pot of a food seller in front of the brothel around 8.00a.m. She was frying oil and her pot caught fire and exploded”.
“Some youth tried to put off the fire, it failed. Several calls to the State fire service were not answered for over three hours until the fire destroyed the building completely” one of the witnessed said.
