The list of requests from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), which includes a minimum wage and tax holidays for workers among other things, will be taken into consideration, according to the Federal Government.
After a roughly three-hour discussion between the Federal administration and the TUC, the Federal Government’s spokeswoman, Dele Alake, told reporters that the administration will also consider how realistic the proposals were.

President Bola Tinubu, according to Alake, will set up a tripartite committee with representation from the business sector, organised labour, and states to investigate the dynamics of the minimum wage increase and come to a mutually agreeable conclusion.
He stated that the Federal Government (FG) representatives will meet with the President to finalise decisions on the requests, adding that there is no disagreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) about their demand for a review of the minimum wage or a return to the status quo.
He continued by saying that even though the NLC was not present, the parties had agreed to meet again on Tuesday, 24 hours before the NLC was supposed to strike, and the FG was making an effort to contact them.
Festus Osifo, the president of the TUC, expressed optimism on behalf of the union after the Federal Government committed to looking into their demands, the most important of which is a review of the current minimum wage, among other things. However, he insisted that, in the interest of social dialogue, the Federal Government reverse the price of fuel while discussions are ongoing.
