Manchester United came back from behind to beat Everton 3-1 in gameweek eight of the Premier League 2020-21 season.
Bruno Fernandes inspired a Manchester United fightback against Everton on Saturday, scoring twice in a 3-1 win to ease the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and deny the Merseysiders a return to the top of the Premier League.
United came into the match at Goodison Park in the miserable position of 15th in the Premier League table and smarting after defeats to Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir.
Things got off to a bad start for United as Everton – needing a result of their own after a poor run – took their lead through a fine Bernard goal after 19 minutes.
However, United rallied as Fernandes headed home a Luke Shaw cross six minutes later. The Portuguese then added his second 32 minutes in as his cross floated in after Marcus Rashford failed to get a touch on it.
United had chances to seal the victory after the break, but Everton offered little in the way of genuine chances – and Fernandes turned provider deep into injury time as Cavani secured three points with his first goal for the club.
After two successive losses in all competitions, United needed a response and they got that from Bruno Fernandes, who scored twice and made an assist.
Everton suffered their third successive loss in the Premier League.
