Nigerian actor and comedian, Woli Arole has warned that Grammy-winning singer, Wizkid should never be compared with legendary Afrobeats singer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Arole, who stated this on his Twitter page spoke out against the internet trend that compares Fela Kuti to Wizkid. Some people have been comparing Wizkid to Fela Anikulapo-Kuti because of the records that Wizkid has broken in African music.
According to him, when he went to study filmmaking in London, his lecturer asked him where he’s from and when he replied that he’s from Nigeria, the lecturer followed up with another question asking whether he knows Fela Kuti.
”Please nobody should compare WIZKID and FELA around me ooooooo. When I went to study “Filmmaking in London” my lecturer asked me “Where are you from? I replied “Nigeria”. He replied “Do you know FELA?. Mo foh. Fela is been studied in Universities abroad,’ he wrote.
