On Friday morning, there was unrest at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, Oyo State when gunmen suspected of being kidnappers abducted at least three individuals in the nearby hamlet of Abaa.
According to information obtained by InsightnaijaTV, the attackers struck the Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo community late on Thursday night and abducted the victims.
The casualties reportedly included a hotelier, one of his employees, and an additional unnamed person.
On the condition of anonymity, a community member who confirmed the incidence to The PUNCH claimed they believed the shooters to be Fulani hoodlums.
After learning about the event, Chief John Adepoju, the community’s leader, allegedly immediately sent out messages advising members to exercise caution and stay indoors following the occurrence.
“The owner of the hotel travelled and returned yesterday and the incident happened not long after his return.
“The kidnappers should be about 10 from what those who were present at the scene told us and they fired several shots to scare people away and whisked their victims away.
“This problem which we were hearing of from afar has come to this area and it is unfortunate that it has become a frequent occurrence here now,” the source said.
