President Bola Tinubu has been requested to interfere in the battle between Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Aiyedatiwa, claiming that some people have hijacked the governance of the state.
The head of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, who led other elder statesmen under the auspices of Ondo State Elders and Leaders, said that the political turmoil, notably the absence of the governor, has been impacting governance in the state. The elders also stated that if the situation is not addressed promptly, it will undoubtedly damage the formulation of the 2024 budget.

After an emergency meeting in Akure, the state capital, a communiqué signed by the Afenifere leader and the group’s secretary, Bakitta Bello, decries the absence of the state in critical national events due to the crisis, the elder statesmen stated that there is no clear direction within the state’s civil service.
According to the communiqué: “The Elders also call on the state and national leadership of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, to provide the required guide to those in government as well as ensure discipline amongst their fold.
“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is hereby passionately called upon to intervene and end the present constitutional crisis in the state, to avoid the looming breakdown of law and order in Ondo State.”
