Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation and spokesman for the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Council, charged Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with harbouring a secret agenda on Wednesday.
In response to Emefiele announcing the naira redesign strategy, Fani-Kayode argued Emefiele’s plans are dubious in an interview on Channels TV.

He continued by saying that the policies aim to “create instability in this nation for everyone and to open the door for something radically different.
“This is what I see going on and I must tell you that I find questionable the policies of the governor of the central bank as of today. I don’t question the policy itself; I question the timing of the policy. People are suffering, people are going through hell, people can hardly achieve anything and I knew as far back as Christmas that this is what they were going to do.”
Fani-Kayode claims that Emefiele is being supported by some authorities, and that these individuals are in control of his current behaviour.
Yes, a cashless policy is eventually necessary, he said, but why is it being brought at this crucial juncture? Nothing except anguish, hostility, and contempt of the whole ruling class—including the All Progressives Congress—will result from it. Additionally, I’m sitting there on your show today criticising the governor of the central bank in a strong way of having a hidden purpose.
