Dr. Saleh Abubakar, the former Acting Register of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has died.
The deceased’s family member, Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Darius Ishaku on Press Affairs, confirmed the news to InsightnaijaTV, saying Abubakar died after a long illness in a Kaduna hospital.
Abubakar, who was born in Jalingo, Taraba state but lived in Kaduna, was 74 years old, according to him.
Abubakar, a 1973 history graduate of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, was a participant of Gen. Abacha’s Nigerian National Constitutional Conference from 1994 to 1995.
He was a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) for 19 years before joining JAMB in 1996 as Director of Admissions. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of the College of Preliminary Studies (CPS) Yola in the erstwhile Gongola State and afterwards the College of Education, Jalingo, Taraba.
Islamic Injunctions have since ordered the deceased’s remains to be buried in Kaduna. He is survived by one wife, 12 children, and 11 grandchildren.
