In order to improve the nation’s election system, the Independent National election Commission (INEC) has received several tools and technologies from the European Union.
At a handover event on Thursday in Abuja, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the national chairman of INEC, said that the Phase II Project had various components, the first of which was support for INEC provided by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI).

“This support is designed to address 5 thematic areas, i.e. enhancing and strengthening planning and operational capacities; (and) improving the Commission’s internal communication and external engagements with stakeholders,” added Yakubu.
The INEC chairman listed further topics as improving the Electoral Institute’s capacity for teaching and research, aiding in the development and adoption of technology advancements, and improving the legal and legislative foundations for the conduct of elections.
“Within the current Electoral Cycle, DAI has provided support towards capacity building, technical support, printing of non-sensitive reports, and information flyers,” he stated.
“We are pleased that the Commission is receiving some of the tools we developed in partnership with DAI today.”
