Two Nigerian police officers were killed by unidentified gunmen at Nkpamte in Enugu State’s Igboeze South LGA over the weekend, according to the state police command.
According to the state police public relations officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, they died in a hospital after suffering gunshot wounds during a gun duel with the assailants.
“At around 12 noon on June 2, 2022, yet-to-be identified gunmen attacked and fatally wounded two police officers at Nkpamte community of Igbo-Eze North LGA following a gunfight,” he said.
“The officers were taken to the hospital right away, but doctors on duty confirmed that they were dead.”
The inquiry and manhunt for the criminal elements had begun, he added.
