Health tourism must end, according to human rights campaigner Femi Falana, who also asked that all government officials receive their medical care in Nigeria.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) announced this on Thursday at the first anniversary of the late Mohammed Fawehinmi Lecture in Lagos, InsightnaijaTV reports.
Falana praised Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president, for having knee surgery in a Lagos hospital but demanded that other public officials receive medical care in Nigeria for any health issues.
He said: “Anybody who holds public office must be treated in Nigeria for any health challenge.
“Public office holders must die here. Enough of health tourism.”
Speaking about the upcoming elections in 2023, Falana urged voters to ask prospective presidents about the country’s issues.
Falana claims that regardless of the political party to which someone belongs, people should reject the high living standards.
He said: “I don’t care which party you belong to; what is important is that people should ask questions and reject the high living conditions.”
