Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the State Government to embark on bulk purchase of food
items directly from the farmers during harvest at profitable rates, store and sell to the public in the
scarcity period to assist in checking arbitrary hike in price by marketers.

and Social Development on a motion Titled “The need to control high cost of food items in Kwara State”
raised by the member representing Kaiama-Kemanji-Wajibe Constituency, Abdullahi Danbaba.

with provision of standardised storage facilities as well as weight and measures to discourage incessant
hike in prices.

youth and encourage small scale industries to guard against rural-urban migration which has been a
major challenge to farming activities.

subsidised rates for farmers, the House directed the Ministry of Enterprise to as a matter of urgency
carry out necessary enforcement strategies on weight and measures to check the arbitrary increase in
price of food items.

procurement of vehicles for security agencies and urged it to sustain the temple as this will go a long
way in addressing issue of insecurity in the state and enable farmers practice unhindered.
