Ike Uzochukwu, the Independent National Electoral Commission‘s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Abia State, has been suspended. As a result, Clement Ohia, the state’s Administrative Secretary, has been instructed to take over immediately and ensure the smooth operation of this Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections.
One of the places where the presidential and national assembly elections slated for February 25 did not start on time was Abia State due to a logistical issue.

Dr. Nura Ali, the commission’s resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, was placed on administrative leave as of March 6 and Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa, the state’s administrative secretary, was chosen to manage the commission’s operations.
