Prior to the 2022 Eid el-Kabir celebration, Mr. Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), has ordered increased security across the country.
This was stated in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer.
Prior to the event, Baba had ordered increased security from Commissioners of Police (CPs), Tactical Commanders, and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs).
Throughout the Eid-el-Kabir season and beyond, he said, the goal was to prevent undesirable situations in their Areas of Responsibility (AoR).
The I-G asked the individual CPs and supervising AIGs to make sure that there was an adequate deployment of personnel and resources to stop crimes and criminality.
To maintain the peace and public safety in Nigeria, he urged police officers and men to engage in critical evaluation of threat-prone locations, rigorous stop and search, raids on black spots, and other anti-crime initiatives.
Baba advised that the people on duty must be professional and attentive of the citizens’ basic rights.
He urged the cops to carry out their duties with the utmost respect and attention.
